The Principal Investigator shall have been awarded his/her first PhD at least 7 and up to 12 years prior to 1 January (call date). As an example for ERC-CoG-2019 call researcher shall have been awarded his/ her first PhD between 1 January 2007 and 31 December 2011.

The effective elapsed time since the award of the first PhD can be reduced in certain properly documented circumstances  like: maternity, paternity leave, long-term illness or clinical training. For example, for maternity the effective elapsed time since the award of the first PhD will be reduced by 18 months for each child born before or after the PhD award. A competitive Consolidator Grant Principal Investigator must have already shown research independence and evidence of maturity, for example by having produced several important publications as main author or without the participation of his/her PhD supervisor.

Consolidator Grants may be awarded up to a maximum of 2 Million Euros for a period of 5 years. However, this budget may go up to a maximum of 2.75 Million Euros to cover (a) eligible "start-up" costs for Principal Investigators moving to the EU or an Associated Country like Turkey from elsewhere as a consequence of receiving the ERC grant and/or (b) the purchase of major equipment and/or (c) access to large facilities.

ERC-2019-CoG Call is closed. ERC-2020-CoG Call is expected to be published on October 2019 and closed on February 2020.

CoG Calls are published annually and the general features do not differ year by year. Therefore if you are preparing to submit a proposal to 2020 CoG Call, please refer to the important documents for ERC-2019-CoG Call below. In addition you can apply to ERC Principle Investigator Advancement Programme before the the 2020 CoG call is open.

TÜBİTAK H2020 Support and Award Programmes:

You may apply to the below mentioned TÜBİTAK H2020 Support and Award Programmes which were designed to increase Turkey’s participation to the ERC calls.

  • ERC Principle Investigator Advancement Programme: This programme involves, proposal pre-evaluation support, participation to project proposal writing and submission trainings and interview trainings and travel support.
  • Above-Threshold-Award: This is an award given for ERC applicants that passed the first evaluation step. The amount of the award is maximum 60,000 TL (approx. 9,000 EUR) and it is calculated based on the mark received after the evaluation.
  • Success Award: This is an award given to ERC Principle Investigators and their host institutions. The amount of the award is maximum 1,770,000 TL (approx. 260,000 EUR) for Consolidator Grants and it is calculated according to the project budget and the project duration.
  • Transfer Award: This is an award given to ERC Principle Investigators that bring their project to Turkey and their host institution The amount of the award is maximum 500,000 TL (approx 75,000 EUR) and is calculated according to the project duration in Turkey.
