An on-line 'Accelerator' Project Writing Training event for approximately 250 SMEs was broadcast on 24th August 2020. The event was held under The “Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase II Project” which is co-financed by the EU and the Republic of Turkey and managed by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), within the framework of the Competitive Sectors Programme of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

Project Writing Training for SMEs, which aims to increase the participation of Turkish institutions to the European Union Framework Program, Horizon 2020, within the scope of "Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase-II" commenced with opening speeches by Ms. Merve Diyar, SME National Contact Point, Operation Coordination Unit from TÜBİTAK. Ms. Diyar made an informative presentation on "SME Tools, Accelerator Support and the Horizon2020 Coordination Support Program." She also shared useful web links and TUBITAK contacts that participants can access.

Mr. Philip Sowden, SME Key Expert of the Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase II Project, as taking the floor after Ms. Merve Diyar, then presented information concerning Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Framework Programmes, Accelerator, and types of funding. After Mr. Sowden, Turkey in Horizon 2020 Project Training Coordinator Mr. Grigoris Chatzikostas gave a detailed insight into what the European Commission and their project evaluators expect in the three key areas of Accelerator proposals; Excellence, Impact and Implementation. During Mr. Chatzikostas’ session created an interactive environment by inviting participation of the other experts, and responding to questions the on-line participants.

The event concluded with a Q&A session led by Project SMEI Expert, Yasemin Eda Erdal. The panel of experts responded to the participants and provided details of further information and more interactive on-line training.

The training closed with thanks from the TÜBİTAK official and the project experts for the interest of the participants and their wishes for future cooperation.
