The ECSEL Info Day Event was organized by TUBITAK on February 18, 2020 at Boğaziçi University in İstanbul, under the “Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase II” Technical Assistance Project which is co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey and implemented by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Industry and Technology within the scope of Competitive Sectors of Programme.

Prof. Mehmed Özkan, Rector of Boğaziçi University made the opening speech of the event and touched upon electronic technologies have a transformative impact on societies in our age and the significance of having a voice and role in this transformation.

Dr. Orkun Hasekioglu, Advisor to the President of TÜBİTAK as taking the floor after Özkan stated the TÜBİTAK’s supports within the scope of the program while he addressed crucial funding support to the researchers that ECSEL Program that is being carried out to the extent of Horizon 2020 offers.

Mr. Mete Karaca, Director of International Cooperation-TÜBİTAK, mentioned Turkey’s activities in the ecosystem of R&D and innovation as TÜBİTAK as he stated Turkey’s import about international processes carried out in this context. Karaca also informed about the methods of benefiting of ECSEL’s opportunities and ECSEL's national funding mechanism.

At the event with around 200 attendees, after the opening session the participants had the opportunity to listen to the presentations of, respectively, ECSEL JU Head of Programmes Dr. Yves Gigase, INFINEON R&D Director Knut Hufeld, AVL Program Manager, Jürgen Holzinger, SOITEC Program Manager, Francois Brunier, and FRAUNHOFER EMFT Group Manager Erkan Isa.

In the afternoon sessions of the event, while the total of 50 planned bilateral and multilateral interviews was held, the representatives of around 100 public and private sectors that are attended to mentioned interviews had a chance to meet and exchange ideas with 5 international speakers through private sessions.
