A General Training Webinar on Green Deal Calls event with over 450 participants was organised on 27th August 2020. The event was held under The “Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase - II Project” which is co-financed by the EU and the Republic of Turkey and managed by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), within the framework of the Competitive Sectors Programme of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

The event, where the opening speech was made by the TÜBİTAK Horizon 2020 Energy National Contact Point, Mr. Çağrı Yıldırım, commenced with the presentation by Mr. Ufuk Atay, TÜBİTAK Head of European Union Framework Programs Division. Mr. Ufuk Atay, referring to Turkey's Horizon 2020 performance, highlighted Turkey’s achievements in research and innovation. Afterwards, Mr. Atay gave comprehensive information about the rules of participation to Horizon 2020, TÜBİTAK support and award programs. Continuing his presentation with the European Green Deal calls, Mr. Atay shared with the participants the upcoming important and useful event dates related to the calls. Mr. Atay concluded his presentation by giving information concerning the upcoming Framework Program, Horizon Europe Program.

In the continuation of the event, the information regarding the purpose and outputs of Turkey in Horizon 2020 was shared with the participants. In the training, a presentation on European Climate priorities and Green Deal policies was delivered by the TH2020 Project experts. In the ongoing process, detailed information was provided on the 20 topics to be opened under the Green Deal. The participants were given the opportunity to participate actively by the experts’ instant survey questions throughout the event.

During the event, which lasted about 3 hours, participants’ questions concerning the new call to be opened were responded and the useful links they could benefit from were shared. In the last part of the webinar, there was a presentation on Horizon 2020 legal and financial issues. During this presentation, many important points from budget formulation methods to proposal and project timeline were also addressed.
