The Turkish ERA Roadmap which has been formulated to better integrate the Turkish Research Area into the European Research Area has been published. It aims to lay down the basis for further implementation of ERA priorities in Turkey via enhancing the research and innovation capacity, supporting researcher mobility and strenghtening the research cooperation with EU. The ERA priorities are:

  1. More effective national research systems
  2. Optimal transnational cooperation and competition and research infrastructures
  3. An open labour market for researchers
  4. Gender equality and gender mainstreaming in research
  5. Optimal circulation, access to and transfer of scientific knowledge
  6. International cooperation

The National ERA Roadmap is based on input from relevant STI stakeholders and conclusions of:

  • Conference on Turkish Universities in the European Research Area, held on 8-9 th of October 2015 in Ankara
  • Workshops realized on ERA Priorities on 4th of November 2016 in Ankara
  • The Meeting on Building the European Research Area in partnership with Turkey on 24th November 2016 in Brussels
  • The Meeting on Building the European Research Area in partnership with Turkey on 16th of November 2017 in Istanbul
